  • 300 iron workers, for the two years 1887-89;
  • 2.5 million rivets;
  • 15,000 pieces of iron;
  • 40 tons of paint;
  • High wind sway of at most 12 cm;
  • Temperature dependant height variation of 15 cm or less;
  • 1652 steps from the 2nd level to the top level;
  • Total height in 1889: 300.51 meters [985 feet, 11 inches];
  • Total height with television mast: 320.755 meters [1052 feet, 4 inches];
  • Base area: 10,281.96 Sq. meters [2.54 acres];
  • Foundation weight: 277,602 kg [306 tons];
  • Iron structure weight: 7.34 million kg [8092.2 tons];
  • Elevator systems weight: 946,000 kg [1042.8 tons];
  • Total tower weight: 8.56 million kg [9441 tons];
  • Pressure on foundation: 4.1 to 4.5 kg/square cm;
  • There are 1,665 steps to the summit and not, as popularly
    believed, 1,792 steps representing the year of the First French Republic.
